Charlesworth Author Services - What we do
To submit a paper for editing, authors must first register and then log in through our secure and simple-to-use web interface. Once an author has uploaded their paper, the paper will be assigned to one of our scientific editors who is familiar with the area that is the subject of the paper. All of our editors are native speakers of English and have college degrees in the subject area they are editing.
While reviewing papers our editors check for correctness of grammar, spelling, and style as well as clarity, readability, and the appropriate use of standard English. They may also suggest changes to make the content more coherent and understandable and more accurate. For example, editor will check:
- the title for appropriateness to content
- the structure of the paper in relation to standard scientific formats
- consistent and correct use of standard spelling, either US or British styles
- punctuation and grammar to improve clarity
- consistent use of terminology
- for anomalies or factual inconsistencies in tables and figures
- completeness, consistency. and accuracy of captions
- for errors or omissions in references
When possible, our editors will also comment on other aspects of scientific papers if they note problems or inconsistencies in a manuscript or its structure or organisation.
